Cruisse ship returned to port after two passengers needed to be hospitalized after brawl
The 'Wonder of the Seas' was forced to return to port in Miami after a brawl broke out on board, leaving two passengers hospitalized, on Sep 15, 2025. Law enforcement and first responders met the cruise ship as it returned to PortMiami following reports of an altercation on board between two passengers. The captain announced the ship would be returning to port because of an injured guest who needed to be hospitalized. Passengers wree running over to the pool area before the captain announced the sudden return. The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue service was called for medical assistance at the 1000 block of North America Way when the ship pulled in to port. The two injured passengers were taken to the Jackson Memorial Hospital upon their return to Miami. One person was loaded onto a stretcher just outside of a Miami-Dade ambulance. The conditions of the injured were not known on Sep 16. On the whole a dozen people were escorted from the ship. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office described the incident as a consequence of a 'dispute' between two passengers "According to investigators, a verbal dispute ensued between patrons, which became physical."
Hurricane Milton affects cruise schedules
The 'Wonder of the Seas' has skipped a visit to Roatan, Honduras and Costa Maya, Mexico, due to hurricane Milton. Instead, the ship would visit Cozumel on day 6 of the actual cruise, and Falmouth, Jamaica.
Cuban Coast Guard responsible for SAR operation
After a passenger went overboard the 'Wonder of the Seas' off the coast of Cuba on Aug 29 at around 7:30-8 p.m., the cruise line had been working with the US Coast Guard. However, the Cuban Border Guard is responsible for coordinating the search and rescue mission because the incident happened in Cuban territorial seas. The US agency is not currently involved in the case. The ship was two days into its seven-day itinerary after it left Port Canaveral, Florida, and had already diverted from its original itinerary to account for Hurricane Idalia, which is pummeling Florida with record-breaking storm surge this week. The ship's crew spent approximately three hours searching for the passenger before the vessel moved on.
