Fri Feb 16 09:51:52 CET 2024 Timsen

Yemen's Houthis have fired naval missiles at the 'Lycavitos', en route from Mizuushima to Suez, in the Gulf of Aden, some 100 nautical miles east of Aden, on Feb 15, 2024. The vessel is managed by Helikon Shipping Enterprises, which has offices in London, Athens and Dalian, China. The bulk carrier suffered minor damage, caused by shrapnel that caused a diesel leak. The crew members were unharmed.

Saudi Arabia bars 47,000 tonnes wheat vessel from entering Yemeni port

Sat Apr 11 14:41:19 CEST 2015 arnekiel

audi-led coalition have blocked a vessel carrying more than 47,000 tonnes of wheat from entering a Yemeni port, demanding United Nations guarantees that cargo would not go to military personnel. Ocean Marine Services, which acts as the Yemen-based agent for the ship, said in a letter to the director of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Authority, that the Lycavitos, carrying 47,250 tonnes of wheat, had been stopped from entering al-Saleef port, north of Hodeidah on Wednesday night, on the grounds that all Yemeni ports were off limits to shipping. “As official bodies, we appeal to you to communicate with whoever may be in charge to find a quick solution to the problem, as the wheat commodity is a nutritional and strategic commodity important for the livelihood of the (Yemeni) people,” the Ocean Marine Services letter said. Officials from the Saudi-led coalition could not immediately be reached for a comment. UK-based Helikon Shipping Enterprises Ltd, which acts as owner’s agent for the Lycavitos, said the ship had been loaded with wheat from the west coast of the United States intended for discharge at Saleef and Hodeida ports. http://customstoday.com.pk/saudi-arabia-bars-47000-tonnes-wheat-vessel-from-entering-yemeni-port/
