Tanker boarded by robbers
The 'Puffin Pacific' was boarded by two robbers, one of them carrying a knife, while the vessel was moored at the Rabaul anchorage, Papua New Guinea, in position 004 15 11.4S, 152 11 08.4E, on July 28, 2021, between 7.33 p.m. and 7.44 p.m. The robbers managed to enter the accommodation space using an access door on the starboard side upper deck. The duty patrol immediately spotted them, raised the alarm and chased them away. The robbers however managed to steal a laptop from the ship's office and then retreated to a small hand-paddled unlit boat, through the hawse pipe, using the port anchor chain, where one more accomplice was waiting for them. The ship left the anchorage, headed to Singapore, on July 29 with an ETA as of Aug 10.
