The full reopening of Holyhead has been delayed again the day before it was due to reopen. Two berths at Holyhead, which links north Wales and Dublin, were damaged on Dec 7 during Storm Darragh, affecting thousands of travellers and parcel deliveries over Christmas, as well as businesses in the town. One berth reopened on Jan 15, while the second, Terminal 3, was originally set to reopen on July 1, but was pushed back originally to July 15 and now to July 18. Stena Line, which owns the port, has announced Terminal 3 will reopen on July 19 due to adverse weather conditions delaying the final repairs. Stena Line and Irish Ferries have been currently running from a single berth, rather than the usual two Stena Line and Irish Ferries have been running their regular four daily services from a single berth, rather than the usual two. Traders in Holyhead said they had seen a huge drop in footfall and earnings since the damage to the port.

A fire broke out aboard the 'Island Princess' on the morning of July 15, 2025, one day after the vessel departed from New York City. At 6:00 a.m. Halifax time, a general alert sounded on the ship. A few minutes later, the captain announced that there was a fire in the galley on Deck 12. At 6:20 am, the captain said that crew members were putting the fire out with extinguishers and foam and that there was no concern for passengers. At 6.335 a.m. the Captain announced that the fire was out, but another team was going to the area to make sure the fire was completely out. At 7:10 a.m. the crew was told to stand down. The ship was on time to arrive in Halifax on the morning of July 16. The 'Island Princess' was on an 18-night cruise to Greenland and Canada from New York City, calling at Halifax, Sydney, St. Johns, Nanortalik, Qaqortoq, Paamiut and Nuuk. The cruise will also have 10 sea days and return to New York on Aug 1.

On July 16, 2025, at 11.15 a.m. fire broke out in the cargo hold of the 'FWN Adriatic' in the 5th dock of the port of Antwerp near the Noordkasteel Bridge. The ship was carrying plasterboard and vehicles as cargo. The fire initially caused heavy smoke, advising local residents to keep their doors and windows closed. The fire department started extinguishing the fire from the quay, and a port fireboat was also present. After the fire fighters managed to close the ship's hatches, the smoke decreased significantly. The hold was to be flooded with CO2. The fire fighting was expected to take several hours. The Port of Antwerp-Bruges was urging shipping traffic to exercise extreme caution in the waterway from 5th Haven Dock km 1 to Amerika Dock km 1, as well as for berths 345 to berth 347. BERGA II
The crew of the 'Berga II' successfully rescued a French citizen whose boat broke down in the open sea off the coast of Fiumicino on July 14, 2025. after the crew received a distress call from the French-flagged vessel. The tanker was in a waiting position near the port of Fiumicino, preparing to unload its cargo of liquefied petroleum gas, and quickly responded. The skipper was brought aboard the tanker and received first aid and medical treatment after sustaining injuries due to a storm. The 'Berga II' also took the damaged boat in tow, informed the Italian Coast Guard of the rescue operation and coordinated with them the evacuation of the skipper.
GALEON ANDALUCIA
The 'Galeon Andalucía' got into difficulty while attempting to leave Whitehaven Harbour in the early hours of July 16, 2025. The ship has been docked in Whitehaven since July 8 and has welcomed thousands of people on board. The17th century Spanish Galleon replica had already extended its visit by two days.During the departure the ship experienced some issues with wind gusts, and some minor damage has been done to a pontoon. The ship returned to the Sugar Tongue and was expected to leave at 4 p.m., if the weather conditions are favourable. Its next stop is the Bristol Harbour Festival where it was scheduled to arrive on July 17. According to initial reports no one was injured, while the full extent of damage caused was investigated.
