The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) announced on Aug 31 the return of seven Filipino crew members of the 'MSC Elsa 3', ore than three months after their ship sank on May 25 . They arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on board the Etihad Airways Flight EY 446 from Abu Dhabi on Aug 30. Representatives from the OWWA and the Department of Migrant Workers provided assistance to the, Six of their colleagues had already returned home on the night of Aug 29 via Qatar Airways Flight QR 928 from Doha, Qatar. A total of 13 Filipino out of on the whole 24 crew members of the sunken vessel have now returned to the country..

MARINE DYNAMO

The 'Marine Dynamo' was in collision with the Malta-registered bulk carrier 'Flag Gangos' (IMO: 9643908), en route from Yingkou to Hambantota, about eight kilometres south of Tanah Merah on Sep 1, 2025, at 9.25 a.m. Both vessels were stable, and all crew members were safe and accounted for. One crew member from the 'Marine Dynamo' had suffered minor bruises and sprains and was being treated onboard. Light oil sheens were sighted in the vicinity of the 'Marine Dynamo' after marine gas oil (MGO) from the service tank above the waterline had spilt. It was expected to evaporate and break down readily in the environment. Patrol craft and spill-response craft have been deployed by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to investigate the matter and to assist in the situation, including dispersing the oil sheens. Drones have also been deployed to monitor the situation. Passing vessels have been alerted by navigational broadcast, while terhe waere is no impact to navigational safety. The MPA started investigating the collision. The 'Marine Dynamo' anchored in pos. 01° 11' N 103° 46' E, the 'Flag Gangos' in pos. 01° 17' N 104° 02' E.

SEA EYE 5

Casualty

On Aug 31, the ' Sea Eye 5' rescued 144 migrants from an unseaworthy wooden boat, among them one pregnant, in the Mediterranean. Many of them were dehydrated and needed to be medevaced. 53 survivors were handed over to the Italian Coastguard south of Lampedusa. The 'Sea Eye 5' was designated Tarent as safe port, which took another 40 hours.

NS PRIDE

Casualty

The NS Pride' suffered minor damage when hitting an unknown explosive device near the port of Chornomorsk on Aug 31, 2025. There was no cargo on board at the time of the explosion. The crew of the vessel remained unharmed, and the ship continued on its way to the port of Sulina. Multiple explosions were reported as a result of the collision, which were likely caused by an unexploded unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) downed by Ukrainian electronic warfare during the preceding attack on the port. Multiple downed UAVs were floating on the surface on the water outside the port. which may have dropped naval mines into the area of interest during the preceding attack. Chornomorsk had been subjected to a significant attack by Russian drones overnight, and a part of the region was left without electricity due to strikes on energy facilities.
