The new transport ship “El Camino Español” (A 07) left for the first time on the morning of June 11, 2024, since its acquisition by the Ministry of Defense, for sea trials. On the afternoon it returned to its berth at the La Graña naval station and, if everything goes as planned, it will soon travel to the Cartagena arsenal to continue with the adaptation work to its new role as a transport unit of the Army. Since the end of December 2023, it has been in the Ferrol estuary, where the process of adaptation to its military life has begun until its final enlistment during the course of this year, at which time it will reinforce its transport capacity by a considerable percentage.
