Medevac off Kirkwall
The Kirkwall lifeboat was paged on July 12, 2023, at 4.52 p.m. LT to attend a medevvac from the 'Aidaluna', that had visited the local port earlier in the day. The crew quickly mustered and was on scene at 5.25 p.m. Two trained casualty care crew members boarded the vessel to assist the medical staff on board. The casualty was transferred onto the lifeboat and taken into Kirkwall harbour where they were met and transferred to an ambulance.
Medevac in Kiel Bight
In the evening of June 23, 2019, at 9 p.m. a passenger had to medevaced from the "Aidaluna" two hours after its departure from Kiel, bound to Kirkwall. The ship's doctor requested a medevac in the Great Belt, and the vessel turned around with more than 20 knots, while the lifeboat "Berlin" of the DGzRS station Laboe headed towards the vessel and rendezvoused with the "Aidaluna" one hour after the alert about four miles East of Kiel l/h. The lifeboat went alongside, and the 68 old woman was transferred aboard and taken to Laboe, where an amulance was waiting and took her to a hospital in Kiel. The "Aidaluna" then resumed its voyage to the Orkneys.
Medevac on the Elbe
The fire brigade Stade was alerted by the "AIDAluna" in the evening of May 6, 2019, after a passenger, aged 74, fell down a staircase and suffered severe injuries which required a medevac. A fire boat went alongside the ship which was sailing on the Elbe and took the patient off, supported by a boat of the DLRG. The cruise ship had sailed from Hamburg at 7 p.m. and issued a distress call already off Finkenwerder.
