Gear repairs in Ponta Delgada
The "BBC Asia" berthed in the port of Ponta Delgada, Azores, in the morning of March 18, 2019, to carry out anchor gear repairs. It sailed again at 7.30 p.m. bound to Houston, ETA March 30.
Two dock workers killed while loading pipes
On Oct 30, 2016, at 11.30 a.m. two dock workers were killed in an accident aboard the "BBC Asia" while she was docked in Kobe, uploading a cargo of pipes from a barge moored alongside her port side with the vessel’s cranes. A bunch of pipes in the process of being lowered suddenly moved, smashing three dockers against the hull plating in a cargo hold. Two of them died, one was hospitalized in serious condition. The sudden movement of the bunch was caused by ship’s movement or jolt, an investigation was under way.
