CSC takes delivery of second bulker

Wed Oct 19 10:18:46 CEST 2016 arnekiel

Ceylon Shipping Corporation (CSC) has taken delivery of its second bulk carrier, CEYLON PRINCESS at Colombo port. Constructed in China at the Avica International yard in Weihei, the 63,000 dwt, 200m long bulker is identical to sister ship, CEYLON BREEZE, which was delivered in March this year. The main purpose of CSC acquiring these new ships is to transport coal to the Puttalam Lakvijaya Power Station.

Bulkcarrier assisted distressed yacht

Wed Sep 14 11:07:24 CEST 2016 Timsen

The "Ceylon Princess" was involved in a rescue effort on Sep 12, 2016, after a yacht and its two crew were stranded off the Mauritius coast. The ship was en route to Richards Bay to collect a coal consignment for the Norochcholai coal power plant in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka. It had left Singapore on Sep 2 and two days later, northeast of Mauritius heard a Mayday call coming from the yacht "Rebecca" which was also communicating with the Mauritius Coastguard which requested the bulkcarrier to proceed towards the troubled yacht. On reaching the yacht, it was learnt that the power and back-up system has been faulty but the two crew members were safe. The "Ceylon Princess" remained on standby until the Coastguard arrived and thereafter proceeded on its journey.
