Tanker rescued 56 boat people
In the morning of Oct 2, the 'Ginga Hawk', en route from Istanbul to Ravenna, rescued 56 boat people, among them 43 men, six women and xi children, all in good health, in the Adriatic Sea. They were disembarked at the port of Igoumenitsa with the assistance of the 'Thyella'. An investigation was carried out by the Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa. They identified and arrested three men, who were on board the sailboat and suspected to be responsible for the transport of the migrants from the Turkish coast to the coast of Italy.
