Seal failure disabled ship
The 'Kommandor Iona', en route from Montrose to Harlingen with 29 crew members on board, suffered a failure of the aft stern seal putting the main engine out of action, in position 56 17 36N, 000 57 12W, 48 nautical miles from Berwick on Sep 1 at 8 p.m. The incident was reported to Humber Coastguard. The vessel could only make two knots speed, due to its restricted ability to manoeuvre. The tug 'Ormsby Cross' was tasked to take the ship in tow back to Teesport, where it arrived at 11.40 p.m.
Ship plays role in new Brad Pitt Movie
Feeling the pinch of a cold British summer morning, Brad appeared wrapped up on board the yellow SD Salmoor where most of the filming is taking place. The admiralty salvage vessel was covered in wax and fake icicles plus a hoard of locals that were signed up as extras. The crew set sail to a nearby location and returned banging weapons and hollering for the camera.
