For the first time Thomson Celebration to dock in Oman

Sun Oct 09 12:35:24 CEST 2016 arnekiel

Muscat: This winter, for the first time, Thomson Cruises’ ships will be docking at Sultan Qaboos Port, Oman’s tourism ministry said. According to Thomson Cruises’ post on its official website, Thomson Celebration will be visiting Oman as part of its Arabian Odyssey tour. The Sultanate has kick-started the cruise ship season with the arrival of Costa Romantica on September 30, the first of 152 expected cruise ships coming to the country in 2016-2017. http://timesofoman.com/article/93824/Oman/For-the-first-time-Thomson-Celebration-to-dock-in-Oman

Cruise ship gets stuck in Malta Grand harbour

Mon Jul 25 09:40:18 CEST 2016 arnekiel

A cruise ship leaving the Grand Harbour on Saturday suffered an engine failure which left it powerless near the port entrance. The ship drifted for around 100 metres before the captain was forced to drop anchor in order to avoid hitting the breakwater. Owned by the company Tui, the ship blocked the harbour’s entrance for about an hour before finally sailing off, its engines running again. Two tug boats helped secure the ship in order to stop it moving around with the currents. At one point the cruise ship ended up parallel to the breakwater. The passengers gathered on deck to ‘enjoy’ their unexpected longer stay in Malta, while a number of onlookers gathered at the Upper and Lower Barrakka gardens as the spectacle unfolded. The cruise ship, called Thomson Celebration, sails under the Maltese flag. It was built in 1984 and is 194 metres long with a beam of 27 metres. Her gross tonnage is 33,933 tons. The ship yesterday docked safely in Messina as part of its Mediterranean tour. It was helped out of the Grand Harbour by a tugboat. http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20160724/local/cruise-ship-gets-stuck-in-harbour.619934

Thomson Cruises Announces Investment in Thomson Celebration

Wed Sep 24 12:56:54 CEST 2014 arnekiel

Thomson Cruises announces a significant investment in Thomson Celebration as part of the cruise line’s modernisation strategy. Upgrades will include public areas such as sun decks and lounges, and the on-board dining experience will be enhanced with the introduction of a brand new a la carte restaurant on each ship. The news follows an earlier investment in the fleet in 2012 which saw all cabins on Thomson Celebration, together with some public areas, refurbished with clean-cut contemporary designs. Cruise lovers sailing on Thomson Celebration will enjoy a chic new sunbathing area, available to all guests. The on-board food and beverage offering will be enhanced, with the introduction of a new Asian-themed a la carte restaurant ‘Kora La’, offering delicious Indian and Chinese cuisine on both ships. Customers will also enjoy a new food offering and décor at ‘Terrace Grill’ on the Thomson Dream. A new look is also planned for the former ‘Argo Lounge’ and ‘Oceans Bar’ on-board the Dream as they reopen as ‘The Explorers' Lounge & The Coffee Port’ and ‘Tides Bar’. Helen Caron, Managing Director of Thomson Cruises, says: “Listening to our customers is at the heart of all our planning, which is why we are investing further in Thomson Celebration to give passengers an even better experience on-board. We are confident customers will love the enhanced dining experience in the a la carte restaurants and the overall new look of the ship.”
