Bulkcarrier slammed into collision protection

In the morning of Sep 24, 2017, the "Maria G" slammed into the collision protection in lock 3 at Beauharnois. Ship traffic was suspended and the ship remained berthed inside the lock which was connecting the Beauharnois Canal with the St. Lawrence River. The unloaded bulkcarrier was enroute from from Hamilton to Baie Comeau. At least four ships, including the casualty, were berthed along the canal and its’ locks, more dropped anchor outside, awaiting the re-opening of lock 3-

Ship docked at Damen Repair in Flushing following rudder loss

The "Gadwall" arrived under tow at Gent on Jan 27 for offloading its cargo. On Jan 31 she was shifted to Flushing and docked at the Damen Shiprepair Yard at 5.40 p.m. The vessel had lost its rudder in the North Atlantic, south of Santa Maria Island, on Oct 29, 2016. The ship was bound from Quebec to Gent. The tugs "Smit Nicobar" (IMO: 9322592) and "Centaurus" (IMO: 9433755) had been deployed to take the ship in tow in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and had pulled it all the way to Belgium since.
