Grounding off Løgstør

Enroute Liepaja-Aalborg the "Marion K" ran aground in the afternoon of Dec 28, 2011, northeast of Løgstør Port. The ship managed to get free of the sand bar with own power at high tide. The vessel came as fare as the Aggersund Bridge before things went wrong again. The coaster allided with the bridge during the passage, prompting the Navy Operational Command to ask the police to investigate whether there were signs of alcohol consumption either the captain or mate. Breath tests were negative, and it was thought that the allision was caused by strong wind or a rudder damage caused by the grounding before. The ship berthed in Aalborg at 8 p.m. where it was detained until it was s inspected by divers, and the cause of the two accidents was found out.
