Medevac off Isla Mujeres
An American woman with an exposed fracture to her left knee was medevaqced from the 'Norwegian Dawn' by medical personnel of the Mexican Nevy after the medical evacuation request from the ship’s captain. She was evacuated and taken to a Cancun hospital for treatment. The Navy personnel met the cruise ship approximately three miles north of Isla Mujeres. The 72-year-old American woman was transported to a waiting ambulance at the Naval Station of Puerto Juárez where she was taken to hospital for specialized medical care.
Cruise ship changed itinerary due to hurricane
Due to Hurricane Florence in the Eastern Atlantic, the "Norwegian Dawn"’s itinerary was changed. The vessel, departing from Boston on Sep 7, will skip Bermuda entirely. Instead, the ship will call in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Bar Harbor, Maine. The cruise line will continue to closely monitor the storm and provide additional updates as they become available.
Medevac off Boston
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 77-year-old man from the "Norwegian Dawn" on May 17, 2018, approximately 12 miles outside of Boston. The cruise ship called the Coast Guard Sector Boston Command Center and reported they were about 60 miles southeast of Nantucket with a passenger suffering from signs of cardiac distress. A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Boston responded to the call for help and rendezvoused with the "Norwegian Dawn". The station crew then transported the patient, his spouse, and Norwegian Dawn medical staff to the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in Boston where his care was transferred to awaiting emergency medical services personnel. EMS transported the patient to Massachusetts General Hospital.
