Bunker tanker with engine trouble
The 'Whitchampion'. en route from Southampton to St. Helens Anchorage, suffered engine trouble and consequently proceeded at reduced speed and with a reduced steering capability, in position 50 28 52.8 N, 000 17 18.6 E, on Dec 20, 2019, at 2 p.m. The tanker was carrying 3887 tonnes of gas oil as bunker on board. It berthed in Portsmouth on Dec 21 at 6 a.m.
Turbo charger failure off Portland Bill
The 'Whitchampion', en route from Plymouth to Southampton with a crew of eight on board, suffered an engine turbo-charger failure six miles from Portland Bill in position 50 25 09 N, 002 25 09 W, on Oct 17, 2019, at 09.50 a.mThe vessel was diverted to Portland for repairs, and a tug was on the way from Portland. The tug assisted the vessel into Portland Harbour at 2.50 p.m. The estimated time for completion of repairs was about 48 hours.
