DELONIX

piracy

The British maritime security agency, United Kingdom Trade Operations (UKMTO), reported an attack on the 'Delonix' in the Red Sea on June 28, 2024. The Houthis also claimed attacking four vessels in the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea. The tanker was targeted 150 nautical miles northwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen. The captain reported that five missiles were fired at the vessel, but none struck the vessel. All missiles hit the water in proximity to the vessel. No casualties were reported, and the ship continued transiting towards its next port call. Currently, the military authorities were investigating the attack on the vessel. The Houthis claimed attacking two vessels in the Red Sea, with the first one being the 'Delonix', which was attacked using ballistic missiles. Houthis referred to the vessel as American, though the ship is managed by the Greek Merman Maritime Co. The second vessel which was allegedly attacked was the 'Ioannis'(IMO: 9760158), using various uncrewed surface boats. The Houthi terrorists also claimed attacking the 'Waler' (IMO: 9393668) and 'Johannes Maersk' (IMO: 9215189) in the Mediterranean Sea, stating that the Denmark-registered containership was targeted because it is owned by Maersk, which as per Houthis, supports a Zionist entity and frequently violates the Houthis ban on visiting Israeli ports.

NOINA

piracy

The 'Seajoy', en route from Rizhao to Durban, was hit by a waterborne improvised explosive device on June 27, 2024, while sailing in the Red Sea, about 80 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah. No one on board was injured, and the ship continued sailing to the next scheduled port. The UKMTO has not yet reported any damage to the vessel. According to the Houthi militia, the ship was attacked with missiles, drones and surface drones because it has allegedly called at an Israeli port. However, searches in maritime databases do not confirm calls in Israel in the past 12 months.
