Arklow Bay towed to Fowey
The 'Arklow Bay' was taken in tow by the tug 'Cannis' to Fowey on Feb 21, and the SAR operations were terminated at 4 p.m. At 6.30 p.m. the ship at anchor in position at 50 18 28.9 N, 004 37 23 W, about 1.5 miles south-southeast from Fowey. The ship was to enter the port with the high tide in the evening of Feb 22.
Freighter disabled off Isle of Scilly
The 'Arklow Bay' on Feb 19, 2020, at 12.10 a.m. suffered a coolant problem because of a leakage in the pipe from the expansion tank about 40.5 miles South of the Isle of Scilly in pos. 49 14 49 N, 006 14 15 W. The ship was drifting in ESE direction with a speed of 1,6 knots. The estimated time for the completion of repair works was five to six hours, but did not match that expectation. DCPSO and the UK SOSREP have been informed. The French Navy has declined the use of the emergency tug 'Abeille Bourbon'. At 9.40 p.m. the Italian flagged tug 'Ocean Challenger' (IMO: 9085209) sailed from Castletown en route to the incident site to provide assistance, and the freighter was to be towed to Fowey. The 'Arklow Bay' was en route from Bilbao to Waterford with nine crew members on board, being loaded with 8.256 tonnes of cement clinker.News schreiben
