YABUSA

Sold/Decommissioned

On Jan 7, 2025, the 'Yabusa' was taking on bunkers in Singapore’s eastern anchorage ahead of its voyage to the Greek Saronic Ferries, after spending the past 24 years sailing across the Tsugaru Strait, between the islands of Honshu and Hokkaido. Due to Houthi terrorist attacks on Red Sea shipping, the vessel will take a longer route from Singapore to Piraeus via the Cape of Good Hope, a voyage lasting nearly two months. The ferry operated as 'Habayusa No. 3' for the Japanese company Seikan Ferry until it was sold to Greek interests in mid-2024. The 'Yabusa's owner is the Sunquest Oceanic, a Marshall Islands-registered entity, and the ship has been registered under the Panamanian flag for its delivery voyage. The ship will be operating on routes from Piraeus to the islands of the Saronic Gulf in the future.

PELAGOS

Sold/Decommissioned

La Méridionale, part of the CMA CGM group, has sold, as planned, the 'Pelagos' to an Egyptian company that should take delivery in the spring. The vessel will undergo a technical stop from Jan 7 to 13, 2025, in dock 10 in Marseille for repairs to its bow thruster. It is temporarily replaced by the 'Kalliste' on the Marseille - Tangier route until Jan 18, but will then return to service before being transferred to its new owner. The ropax, acquired at the end of 2019, which never really found its place, has been sold and will be replaced by the “Normandie”, a ship from the Brittany ferries fleet.
