The 'Carnival Radiance' rescued 25 people stranded on a small boat off the coast of Mexico on May 25, 2024. The forces of EUNAVFOR Atalanta responded to a privacy incident o nhte 'Basilisk', currently underway off the coast of Somalia on May 23, 2024. Two small craftshad come alongside the ship. The vessel’s last AIS signal was transmitted two days ago north of Madagascar. The indication was that the vessel was traveling from Porto Grande in Cape Verde where it departed on May 3 with an ETA at Khalifa on May 29. Atalanta is placing the ship as sailing approximately 380 nautical miles east of Mogadishu, Somalia, heading north. The UK Maritime Trade Organizations places the vessel approximately 420 nautical miles southeast of Merca, Somalia. There were unconfirmed reports that the crew was able to secure themselves in the vessel’s citadel. Atalanta reports one of its warships is in the vicinity and is first to respond.

On May 26, 2024, the 'Manxman' was delayed en route to Heysham, after it diverted to assist a yacht in distress. The ferry was tasked by Holyhead Coastguard to standby the yacht which had lost power and had a injured person aboard. It diverted to the boat and was on the scene within ten minutes of the call. Its rescue boat teams prepared for launch in case of need. The Holyhead Coastguard stood the 'Manxman' down to resume her scheduled sailing as another vessel was on scene and able to assist. The KMP 'Gerbanga Samudra 5' ran aground in the waters near LCM Gilimanuk Pier, Gilimanuk Village, Melaya District, Jembrana, on May 25, 2024, at around 05.10 a.m. WITA after being dragged by the current. The ferry successfully evacuated at around 08.55 a.m. The ship had just left the LCM Gilimanuk Pier at around 05.05 a.m. en route to Ketapang with cargo. The U.S. Central Command said on May 25, 2024, the Houthis launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles into the Red Sea, but no injuries or damage were reported. At 03.30 a.m. the 'Rantos' began extinguishing fires in the ship's accommodation area and engine rooms using fire hoses. A missile attack targeted the 'Yannis' southwest of the city of Hodeidah, off the coast of Yemen on May 23, 2024, without causing casualties or damage. A passenger of the 'Finnpartner' had to be medevaced in the Bay of Lübeck on May 25, 2024, at 10.40 p.m. The volunteer sea rescuers at the Travemünde DGzRS station attended with the 'Erich Koschub' to take the 54-year-old Dutchman off, while the ferry was on its way from Travemünde to Malmö, seven nautical miles off Travemünde at buoy 1 of the Lübeck-Gedser route. The ferry had turned around, and at around 11.15 p.m., three sea rescuers, including two rescue assistants, boarded the “Finnpartner” a good three nautical miles from Travemünde in good weather conditions. They took over the initial care of the critically ill patient and stabilized him. Meanwhile, the MRCC in Bremen led a medical team from the Lübeck professional fire department with an emergency doctor to the scene. It arrived at the ferry about 15 minutes later with the pilot boat “Bülk”. Due to the short distance to the port and the condition of the patient, who could not be transported, the emergency doctor continued to care for him on board the ferry until he arrived in Travemünde. On the afternoon of May 23, 2024, the Greek Coast Guard was informed about a migrant boat in difficulties 70 nautical miles south of Crete with 37 people (34 men and thhree minors) on board. The 37 rescued were transferred to a Greek kifeboat and landed safely at the port of Kale Limeni. The 'Canarias', returning from the Seychelles, arrived in the area on the evening of May 23. The soldiers boarded at night, sliding down ropes from the helicopter, using the fast-rope technique. High surf along the West Maui coastline has made it unsafe for aquatic biologists to get in the water to assess any possible damage to marine habitats. It will take several days to remove the 2,500 gallons of fuel. In addition to the fuel, the salvage crews will remove batteries, hazardous materials and other items from the vessel.
