ISLE OF LEWIS
The 'Isle of Lewis', serving on the route Oban-Castlebay, suffered a technical issue impacting the port side main engine on the morning of May 18. Initially, the scheduled 12:40 pm. departure from Oban was delayed, before the service had to be cancelled completely. In order to provide a suitable berth for repairs and contractor attendance, the vessel was reposition to Stornoway on the evening of May 18, where it arrived on the morning of May 19. The service remained cancelled as of May 20. After repairs, the vessel was expected to return to service on the morning of May 21. The vessel made passage from Stornoway and operated a delayed service.
PEDRO BENZAL
On May 20, 2025, a fire broke out on the 'Pedro Benzal' eight nautical miles southeast of Faro Calaburra. All four crew members were rescued with assistance from the fishing vessels 'San Pedro' and 'Sa Rata', which were in the area. The crew of the ship has been informed of a criminal suspicion by the police after questioning, but it is not known what they are suspected of at this time. ILSE-MARIE
The 'Ilse-Marie', em route from Stavoren to Leeuwarden, ran aground on a sandbank in po. 53° 10' N 005° 24' E in front of the port of Stavoren on te afternoon of May 22, 2025. The ship was carrying a load of shells. Rijkswaterstaat was on site to monitor the situation and provide support. For the time being, the ship wwas trying to get loose on its own, but so far this has not been successful. There was no damage to the ship or danger to the crew. There wwas also no leakage nor environmental damage. The cause of the groundig was not yet known, but it was suspected that the ship ended up outside the shipping channel. Ship traffic around Stavoren was experiencing minor disruptions due to the incident.
CIC ROLACO
Repairs of the 'CIC Rolaco' at the Steubenhöft in Cuxhaven have been completed after more than two months. The bulk carrier left the port again on May 21 at around 08:30 a.m. for trials in the German Bight. After these were successful, the ship proceed to Portlanded as next destinationwith an ETA as of May 23.

On the morning of May 21, 2025, the hospital ship 'Juan de la Coa reported that a crew member of the 'Saleta', sailing 10 nautical miles northwest of Avilés, required medical evacuation. On May 16, 2025,, a serious work accident occurred on the 'Norwind Helm' in the Danish sector of the North Sea. A man, who was seriously injured in the foot, was about to be transferred to a satellite platform,, when the accident happened. He was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Denmark for medical treatment. The Danish Labour Inspection Authority is investigating the incident and has been on board. The man was not employed by the shipping company, the of Ålesund-based Nordwind Offshore.
JAN SMIT
On May 21, 2025, at 5:34 p.m. the KNRM station responded to a fire on a vessel on the ' Jan Smit', serving between Volendam and Marken, on the Gouwzee. The Marken fire brigade and two lifeboats quickly attended. serving. The master of the 'Jan Smit', after discovering the fire, had called the 'Volendam', which allowed the KNRM to quickly transfer the passengers with the Hendrik Jacob.
