On Aug 11, 2025, at around 7:30 p.m. the skipper of the 'Hermes I' requested assistance from the CROSS Jobourg. after one of his crew members had just been injured on board. The CROSS then contacted the maritime medical consultation center based in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne). It was then recommended that the person be medically evacuated. The trawler, based in Granville (Manche), was then sailing in fishing action 23 miles northwest of the Pointe de la Hague. The CROSS then engaged a French Navy's H160 helicopter based in Maupertus. which took off with a medical team from the Army Health Service on board. Once on site, the H160 hoisted the victim on board and then dropped ho, off at the Tourlaville drop zone, where he was met by a firefighter's rescue and casualty assistance vehicle (VSAV), which transferred him to the Pasteur Hospital in Cherbourg. VOLLSOY

The 'Vollsøy', serving on the route Mekjarvik-Kvitsøy, suffered technical problems and had to cancel the service on Aug 14 at 2:30 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., the operator Boreal informed that a fast boat from Kvitsøy was inserted on the connection and follow the timetable into the evening. The 'Vollsøy' 'had a fault with one of the engines. Service personnel from the engine supplier went on board and started troubleshooting, which was still going on as of Aug 15.

PORT OLYA-4

On Aug 14, 2025, the Ukraine launched a long-range drone attack on the port of Olya in the Astrakhan region and sank the 'Port Olya 4' at its anchorage. The accomodation block was struck and gutted, and the vessel sank stern first, with the bow still protruding above the water. Ukraine's General Staff claimed that the ship was loaded with Shahed-type drone components and ammunition from Iran. Olya Port is a key logistic hub for Iranian military supplies to Russia. The crew of the 'Port Olya-4' was reportedly rescued. Thevessel belonged to the shipping company MG-Flot LLC, which had been involved in the transportation of russian military cargo since 2021. Since the start of active russian-Iranian cooperation, the ship has regularly sailed between the Iranian port of Amirabad and the russian port of Olya, located south of Astrakhan in the Volga Delta. On Aug 12 the container m/v 'Solong', which had caught fire after the collision with the 'Stena Immaculate', was towed to breakers in Ghent by the tug ' Multratug 36' (IMO: 9985289) with the 'Multratug 35' (IMO: 9964039) as steering tug. The ship had been sold to breakers after unloading the gutted container cargo in Aberdeen, and was towed out of the port on Aug 9. The engine room is still completely intact because the crew flooded it with CO2. All the remaining flammable material are to be removed from the accommodation first, and then the workers can start the flame cutting, removing the hatches, the bow, and finally, manually cutting the ship horizontally down to six meters above the keel. Everything must be ready by Dec 1, and all the pieces will be sent to Turkey on a seagoing vessel. In some cases, the higher-quality ironwork will also be sent to ArcelorMittal for remelting. AMALIE SOFIE

The Norwegian Accident Investigation Board will investigate the sinking of the “Amalie Sofie” in the Varangerfjord in Finnmark on Aug 5, 2025. The fishing vessel was out trawling for shrimp when it listed, capsized and then sank. Two people survived, while the fisherman Olaf Birger Danielsen, 76, from Alta was missing and presumed dead. An SART transponder was activated when the vessel sank. A large-scale rescue operation was initiated after the Northern Norway Rescue Centre (HRS) received the signal at 8:10 p.m. from the emergency beacon. A rescue helicopter found a life raft with two fishermen inside. They were transported to the hospital in Kirkenes. The search has been ongoing throughout the night with local fishing boats, the rescue boat and the rescue helicopter from Banak. On Aug 6 at 4:30 a.m.,, the police announced that the rescue operation had ended and that they would now search for the missing person at sea and along beaches in the area. In addition, an aerial search has been conducted outside the area in question. The wreck was located on a water depth of 300 meters on the evening of Aug 7.
