On Aug 26, 2025, the bulk carrier 'New Explorer' (IMO: 9481489), en route from Ust-Luga, sighted in its vicinity, about 29 nautical miles southeast of Cape Sacratif, a jet ski manned by three men. After taking them on board and providing them with initial assistance, the'Salvamar Gienah', which was mobilized by the CCS Almería of Salvamento Marítimo, embarkeed them and transported them to Motril, where they were dropped off. The barge 'El Teide' enroute from Zwijndrecht to Siffferdok, and the 'Yakari' (MMSI: 226002010), enroute from Moerdijk to Anterp, were in collision on the afternoon of Aug 25, 2025, near the Volkerak locks in Willemstad. The 'El Teide' suffered no visible damage. This 'Yakari' as drifting rudderless in the outer harbour after the accident and suffered significant damage.. Police and Rijkswaterstaatproceeded to the collision site to invesstigate the incident. The 'El Teide' moored in pos. 51° 40' N 004° 10' E at the lock, the 'Yakari' in pos. 51° 42' N 004° 25' E. The 'El Teide' continued the voyage on Aug 26 towards Hans Weert, Terneuzen and Ghent, the 'Yakari' berthed in Moerdijk on Aug 26. TROTAMAR III
The 'Trotamar III' has been detained by the Italian authorities in Lampedusa after it rescued 22 refugees in distress off the coast of Libya. According to the Wendland-based Compass Collective, the detention in the port was in effect for ten to 20 days. The crew of the 'Trotamar III' was accused of failing to inform the so-called Libyan Coastguard about the rescue operation. On the morning of Aug 25, 2025, the crew of the 'Trotamar III' had discovered a fiberglass boat in distress off the Libyan coast with three women and 19 men on board. A distress call was made to the Italian and Maltese authorities, and then the skipper decided to take the people on board. The refugees came from Iraq, Somalia, Egypt, Sudan, Bangladesh, and Ethiopia. They were dropped off in Lampedusa on the afternoon of Aug 25.

OCEAN VIKING
The EU has intervened in response to the Libyan attack on the 'Ocean Viking' and has contacted the relevant Libyan authorities regarding the incident to clarify the facts. It was now up to the relevant Libyan authorities to urgently shed light on what happened, said Markus Lammert, EU spokesperson for Home Affairs and Migration, on 'Aug 26, after the aid organization SOS Méditerranée jsf reported the shooting at the "Ocean Viking§ and also published photos of shell casings and shattered portholes. At the time of the incident, the "Ocean Viking" was carrying 87 rescued people – including nine unaccompanied minors – who had recently been brought to safety from a rubber dinghy off the Libyan coast. The "Ocean Viking" arrived with the migrants in the Sicilian port of Augusta on Aug 25 and remained stationary in port on Aug 27.
