The 'Don Toyo' was detained by the Argentine authorities in the province of Corrientes on June 27., 2025, at kilometer 1,224 of the Paraná River following a routine inspection by the Coast Guard. The measure was taken by the General Directorate of Customs (DGA) after detecting alleged irregularities in the international cargo documentation. The vessel was anchored upstream of the city of Corrientes. It had sailed from Pilar (Paraguay) bound for the Buenos Aires port of Dock Sud, carrying a total of 399 containers at the time of its interdiction. The ship was seized after a routine inspection carried out by the Argentine Naval Prefecture, which observed the lack of an international cargo manifest validated by Paraguayan Customs. This documentation is required for the movement of goods under international regulations on the Paraguay-Paraná waterway. An evaluation is being made as to whether this was an administrative omission or a more serious violation.

NORDWIND
On July 2, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a 4,1-m- motor boat sank after getting too close to the 'Nordwind' on the Peenestrom, approximately at buoy PN 43, and sank. The 'Nordwind' was en route from Aalborg to Wolgast, when the charter boat with three men on board passed the starboard side too close and was caught in the bow wave, causing it to capsize and sink. The three occupants were able to swim to the buoy and cling to it. In addition to the water police Wolgast, the Wolgast Fire Department and the DGzRS were also alerted. Before the rescue services arrived, the crew of another pleasure boat that had witnessed the accident, picked up the three men and transported them to Wolgast. There, they were taken to a local hospital for further treatment with suspected hypothermia. The skipper of the motor boat also smelled of alcohol and was drug tested. The corresponding preliminary blood alcohol test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.86 per mille. In this context, a blood sample was ordered. An investigation into endangering rail, shipping, and sea traffic, as well as negligent bodily harm, has been initiated. Further investigations into the matter by the Wolgast Water Police Department were ongoing. The location and salvage of the sunken pleasure craft will be carried out promptly. Chittagong
A fire at a container depot in the town of Sitakunda about 40 km from Chittagong led to a chemical explosion in containers that killed at least 49 and injured more than 300 people on June 4, 2022. Among those killed in the blast that could be heard several miles away were several firefighters. Dozens of dead were scattered among the burnt-out containers and many of the wounded were in critical condition after the huge explosion in the depot containing about 4,000 containers. Hundreds of firefighters, police and volunteers quickly arrived at the depot as the fire broke out around 6 p.m. LT. The extinguishing work had started when the violent explosion threw parts from containers and people into the air. At least five firefighters were killed and even more injured. Many were still missing on June 5. The container depot serves as a staging post for the goods - primarily clothing - to be exported via Chittagong, and contained millions of dollars worth of clothing that was to be passed on to businesses in Western countries. MAISHA
Since April 26, the 'Maisha' with 29 Filipino crew members on board has been idling off the French coast between Saint-Nazaire and Noirmoutier., being subject to sanctions after being Placed on the "Russian Ghost Fleet" blacklist, that prohibited it from docking at a European Union port. The 'Maisha' is suspected of carrying Russian crude oil. On July 2 at 10 p.m., it suddenly restarted its engines after 67 days. The tanker was heading for Willemstad, Curaçao, with an ETA as of July 15. The visit of a French Navy ship on July 2, may have helped resolve the situation. The captain had also been in contact with the maritime prefecture for several days, as well as his company, the Seaserenity Shipping Ltd. The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) was particularly concerned about the fate of the sailors aboard the tanker, who had not been provided with food or fuel.

Felixstowe
Workers at Felixstowe have decided to go on a strike for the first time since 1989. Shipping firms and union leaders have warned that the actions could heavily impact the supply chains and also leave buyers waiting for their necessary goods and other commodities. Nearly 1,900 members of the Unite at Felixstowe have walked out in a dispute regarding pay in the most recent outbreak of industrial action to hit some sectors of the economy. Workers, including machine operators, crane drivers, and stevedores will take action after voting by more than nine to one in favor of strikes. The union said that the eight-day halt is likely to have a significant impact on the port that typically handles almost 4m containers in one year from about 2,000 ships. Felixstowe handles about half of the containerized freight that enters the country and the actions could indicate that vessels have to be diverted to ports in other places in Europe or the UK. Haulage majors have warned that the strike could have a serious impact on business, while trade organizations have said that the consumers could be affected by price increases. All through Suffolk, the bill could run into millions and all over the country a lot more. It is not going to impact the food supply chains as all fresh produces are in stock, but it will impact the supply chain in terms of fences, furniture, and bits and bobs. Maersk, one of the largest container shippers in the world, has said that the strike may cause delays and force it to make changes to its vessel lineup. In the meantime, consumers may be hit with price hikes and shortages of some products. Consumer prices are already rising owing to the increases in the shipping rates experienced since the middle of 2020. Further disruptions in the UK are going to add to the cost pressures, even though the temporary unavailability of some commodities may be the first noticeable impact on the consumers.

FELICITY ACE
The civil proceedings at the Braunschweig Regional Court has commended on July 2, in which the plaintiffs claim that a lithium-ion battery in a Porsche Taycan ignited spontaneously and caused the fire The ship's owner, the shipping company, and several marine hull insurance companies are demanding compensation for the damages associated with the fire and the sinking of the ship. The plaintiffs point out, among other things, that the VW subsidiary's vehicle in question was equipped with innovative batteries for which they were unprepared. The damage is said to be in the hundreds of millions of euros, although the exact amount is disputed between the parties. Volkswagen, however, denies that an electric car caused the devastating fire on Feb 16, 2022. According to the court, the defendant VW subsidiaries claim that the fire had a different cause and that the sinking of the ship could have been prevented with prudent action. Conciliation proceedings aimed at reaching an agreement between the parties failed. Therefore, the main oral hearing has now begun before the 12th Civil Division of the Braunschweig Regional Court. The presiding judge stated that the core question is whether a car started the fire or whether cars caught fire due to a fire. Parallel to the proceedings in Braunschweig, there is another civil case before the Stuttgart Regional Court. This case had been suspended while mediation was attempted in Braunschweig. The proceedings in Stuttgart are scheduled to resume with an oral hearing on Oct 20. The ship owners and five marine hull insurers are demanding damages from Porsche before the Stuttgart Regional Court. The claim involves approximately €29.1 million. Another case is also underway in Panama. The proceedings also address who had what knowledge. The issue is whether the shipping company should have taken better safety precautions or whether VW should have better informed the shipping company about potential hazards posed by the vehicles. Apparently, not everything ran smoothly on the ship. The fire extinguishing system, for example, is said to have malfunctioned. From VW's perspective, this could have slowed the fire and steered the ship to a port. Volkswagen's lawyers also question the safety procedures on board the ship. The plaintiffs, however, argue that the installed foam extinguishing system was not designed for fires involving electric car batteries anyway. Witnesses will be heard at a later date; experts will first have their say in the proceedings.

Odessa
Russian missiles struck the port of Odessa on July 23, 2022, violating a deal signed a day earlier to curb grain exports from Black Sea ports and ease global food shortages caused by the war. The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strike as blatant "barbarism" and that Moscow could not be trusted to implement the agreement. The Ukrainian military said that the missiles had not caused any significant damage and that preparations were underway to resume grain exports from Black Sea ports. The deal, signed by Moscow and Kyiv on July 22 and brokered by the United Nations and Turkey, has been hailed as a breakthrough after nearly five months of punitive fighting since Russia invaded its neighbor. By allowing grain exports from Black Sea ports, including Odessa, it is seen as crucial in curbing rising global food prices.
