A fire broke out aboard the 'Maly' and a 24-ton-vessel, which was moored alongside at the port of Sinbuk in the city of Yeosu on Aug 16, 2025. The 'Maly' was loaded with 2,500 tons of a hazardous chemicals categorized as C5 along with 100 tons of fuel oil when the fire broke out. The blaze quickly spread to the smaller cargo vessel. The Coast Guard mobilized 15 vessels and one fireboat to fight the fire after being notified by a nearby vessel at 1:04 a.m. The Coast Guard was able to extinguish the blaze on the cargo vessel within a few hours, but it took six hours before the fire could be extinguished on the tanker.All 14 crew members from the 'Maly' and four crewmembers from the cargo vessel were rescued, but the captain of the cargo vessel was recovered in an unconscious state and later declared dead. Among the crew members on the tanker, on Myanmar national in his 30s suffered serious injuries, and a Myanmar national in his 20s suffered minor injuries. The fire aboard the cargo vessel was extinguished at 3:17 a.m., the fire on the tanker by 7:45 a.m. It was unclear if the chemicals leaked out due to the fire. Two other tankers that recently loaded at the plant also started heading toward Asia last week. It was unclear if the four vessels currently heading toward Asia will ultimately find buyers. About a dozen ships, including those that can navigate icy waters, have been marshaled to potentially service Arctic LNG 2, with some changing management companies several times to help obfuscate their actual owners. The Arctic LNG 2 produced eight cargoes in summer 2024, but was forced to shut in October. as it failed to find buyers and as ice started its seasonal build-up around the facility. The 'Lochnevis', serving on the route Mallaig-Small Isles, had to be removed for service to undergo repairs on Aug 17. Therefore all sailings have been cancelled. The operator CalMac was sourcing a charter vessel. The 'Lochnevis' was shifted from Gourock and entered the Garvel Drydock of the Dales Marine Services in Greenock on Aug 18.

Iraqi naval forces have detained the 'Liliana', which was suspected of smuggling fuel oil, intensifying the state's efforts to combat illegal petroleum trade in Gulf waters. The tanker was intercepted 26 nautical miles off Iraq's coast near Basra's oil terminal, carrying a cargo of 93,000 metric tons of fuel oil, which was believed to be of Iraqi origin.Armed Iraqi personnel boarded the tanker, questioned crew members, and inspectied their passports. The operation followed intelligence on smuggling activities. The tanker's documents were reviewed by the judiciary, and the vessel was to be towed to port pending a court decision. MOBY DREA
Brodosplit will act in accordance with the decision of the competent authorities and take all necessary measures, including disembarking the vessel. However, that the vessel's departure is the sole responsibility of the owner. The vessel's owner is the sole entity with the right and obligation to make the decision regarding sailing. Brodosplit does not own the vessel and has no legal authority to disembark or transport the vessel independently. Only the vessel's owner can obtain the necessary permits and arrange crew and mooring. Brodosplit is solely a repair port and service provider. Brodosplit can provide technical conditions, but cannot order or conduct sailing without the owner's order. The Ministry ordered the vessel to leave the area within 7 days. The responsibility for complying with the Ministry's instructions lies with the shipowner. Med Fuel confirmed that on receipt of the stop work order on Aug 11, all construction activity was suspended. The owner is now solely focused on securing a safe tow to get the 'Moby Drea' out of Croatia, and the ministry has granted it an additional 15 days to complete the task. After a fire on Aug 13, 2025, at 10. p.m., the KMP 'Gili Iyang', which serves the Gresik-Bawean route, finally underwent repairs. All of the ship's cargo, including bulk cargo, basic necessities, and various other commodities, was unloaded at the Port of Gresik. The KMP 'Gili Iyang' had departed from Gresik Port, at around 8.30 p.m. WIB, with the destination of Bawean Island. About 1.5 hours later, when passing through the Bouy 8 area in the waters of Karang Jamuang, the fire broke out in pos. 06.41'578" S-112.40'213" W in the Surabaya Shipping Lane in Gresik waters in the lower part of the ship in the cargo area for bulk goods and vehicles. Meanwhile, passengers were on the second d3ck. The cause of the fire was suspected to be an electrical short circuit. The incident did not result in any fatalities. The passengers were immediately evacuated and handled at the passenger terminal. Only some of the luggage was burned. The 'Gili Iyang' was carrying 220 passengers, consisting of 164 adult economy class passengers, 16 children and 40 business class passengers. In addition, there were also 62 class II vehicles on board.

The 'Isle of Lewis', serving on the route Oban-Castlebay, suffered a technical issue with the ramp on Aug 15 and a potential fouled propeller. Both problems required further inspections, and the departure from Castlebay was at 05:30 a.m. and the arrival at Oban at 10:15 a.m. as a consequence.

On Aug 18, 2025, the 'Juan y Ángela' requested assistance due to an injured crew member and engine trouble. The LS ''Atlas', the SRAr boat 'Salvamar Fomalhaut' and the patrol boat 'Trabucador' were mobilized to assist. The patrol boat took on board the injured fisherman and transported him to shore. The lifeboat, assisted by the 'Atlas', towed the fishing vessel to the port of Sant Carles de la Ràpita.

A 67-year-old passenger of the 'MSC Poesia' had to be medevaced on the evening of Aug 17, 2025, north of Rostock-Warnemünde. The MRCC of the DGzRS in Bremen was notified at around 5:30 p.m.: The man had suddenly become seriously ill and had to be brought ashore immediately. At that time, the cruise ship was approximately 2,5 nautical miles from Warnemünde. The MRCC mobilized the lifeboat 'Bremen', which already was on a patrol and training task and immediately changed course. The two ships rendezvoused outside the fairway near Outer Road 1. The cruise ship reduced its speed, and the lifeboat went alongside. The patient was safely transferred in calm seas and light winds. On board the 'Bremen', the sea rescuers provided medical care to the man. In Warnemünde, the land-based rescue service was awaiting him. The cruise ship continued its voyage to Haugesund.
